FITA WORLD FIELD ARCHERY CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE

Gloom!!    It rained heavily all yesterday, and has rained most of today.   The courses were absolutely sodden today, the first day of competitive shooting.  The targets we put up last week are still there, but the paths have turned into streams or swamps, and the steps we made on the slopes are getting washed away as fast as they can be repaired. 
Two members of the Australian team fell and were injured, needing hospital treatment.   One was 'walking wounded', but the Mountain Rescue Service had to be called to get the other unfortunate victim down off the course.  After the second accident, shooting was suspended, with the result that not all the archers had the chance to complete the course.  
Shooting is abandoned for tomorrow (which should have been the second day of the qualification round) due to the dangerous conditions.  The folk in charge are trying to work out what to do next to enable the championships to proceed.
